At DIGS we offer a multitude of services, including video guides, pastoral support and great facilities to help you make the most of your time in Sheffield and at the university. We also provide all the comforts we can to help you settle in and feel at home.
Sheffield is a great place to live and learn. It is one of the UK’s most vibrant and diverse cities and has around 50,000 students studying at Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield, a considerable proportion of which are international students.
Sheffield is located in South Yorkshire, almost in the centre of the UK. The city has excellent transport links to all major cities and airports, including a high speed train to London. Manchester is the nearest international airport.As a culturally diverse city, Sheffield has many places that will make you feel more at home. Whether that be finding foods that you thought you’d miss, or being able to see familiar music artists or enjoying a meal at a restaurant where they speak your mother tongue.
Sheffield is also known as one of the greenest cities in Europe as one third of the city lies within the Peak District National Park, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Can I apply from overseas?
As all DIGS applications are completed online, it is easy to apply from your home country. Please click on the 'Apply/Book' tab on the left to make an application for accommodation. If you want to see how to apply, please look here for a step by step guide. How do I pay?
As an international student, you will be required to pay for your accommodation fees in full, prior to your arrival (unless you are an EU student). You can pay over the phone, by bank transfer or by cheque, whichever method suits you.
What does the price include?
The rental price includes your room rent and the service charge includes your utility bills, broadband (with free IPTV, including international channels) and contents insurance. There are no hidden extras.
How can I view a room?
We have online virtual tours showing you what the accommodation looks like. Click on the 'Your Videos' tab on the left to see your chosen site.
Who will I be sharing with?
It is up to you. There are plenty of options available on the online application. If you wish to add any specific notes you can do this also on the application page.
