Guide to Sheffield
Sheffield is heaving with places to go and things to do for its student population. In recent years the steel city has come on leaps and bounds and now easily rivals its nearest neighbours of Manchester and Leeds.
Shopping
The Pinnacles is so perfectly located for you to reach everything within the city centre and the legendary Meadowhall for a full day shopping expedition. The city centre is filled with cool boutiques, vintage shops and high street faithfuls. Alongside these you’ll find cute and cosy cafes, plenty of places to grab a cheap and quick bite to eat as well as big chain restaurants, some of which you can get discounts at using your privilege card!
Nightlife
Now on to the important bit; the bars and clubs. Sheffield has masses, from the big names that’ll offer deals throughout the week to the coolest places to be seen in that are open until the wee small hours. Hop up to West Street and Division Street where you’ll find bar after bar that you’ll want to wet your whistle in.
Club wise, there’s more than enough to keep yourself entertained. Plug offers fun week nights with plenty of cheap entrance deals for students as well on weekends where the music goes up a notch on the credibility scales. There’s also DQ, Nocturnal, Embrace and the O2 Academy that puts on fantastic nights as well as live gigs from the biggest bands around.
Culture
For the cultured amongst you Sheffield also has loads of places to lap up art, history and performing arts. The Millennium Galleries have monthly exhibitions, so does Graves Gallery and The Site Gallery which is the centre of contemporary art in the city. All of which are free to visit!
Theatre wise we have the Lyceum and the Crucible which are packed with amazing shows and Sheffield also has plenty of cinemas for you to enjoy the latest blockbusters at.
This part of South Yorkshire also holds the accolade of being England’s greenest city, so come summer there are hoards of places for you to kick back and grab some rays. The Botantical Gardens being one of the favourites!
